TRUTHER COACH™

THE CROSSROADS KEY

Every serious investigation reaches a place where more than one explanation remains possible. Truther Coach™ does not choose the road for you. It shows you the roads and makes each one pay its evidentiary toll.

CROSSROADS

“a crucial point especially where a decision must be made”
— Merriam-Webster · source ↗
AT THE CROSSROADS: the point where competing explanations separate and the researcher has to test which road survives evidence.
WHY IT MATTERS: investigation becomes meaningful when alternatives can actually lose.

VALOR

“strength of mind or spirit that enables a person to encounter danger with firmness”
— Merriam-Webster · source ↗
AT THE CROSSROADS: the willingness to examine difficult, unpopular, or unsettling possibilities without surrendering judgment.
WHY IT MATTERS: valor is not stubbornness. It includes the courage to abandon your own theory when the evidence fails.

HYPOTHESIS

“a proposed explanation … tentatively assumed in order to test whether it agrees with facts”
— Merriam-Webster · source ↗
AT THE CROSSROADS: a provisional explanatory model. A hypothesis may generate questions; it may not manufacture facts.
WHY IT MATTERS: strange hypotheses are welcome. Promotion requires support.

EVIDENCE

“something that furnishes proof”
— Merriam-Webster · source ↗
AT THE CROSSROADS: material that changes the support for a claim — not merely repetition, status, volume, or emotional force.
WHY IT MATTERS: twenty copies of one claim may still equal one source.

INFERENCE

“a conclusion or opinion that is formed because of known facts or evidence”
— Merriam-Webster · source ↗
AT THE CROSSROADS: the bridge between what is observed and what is concluded.
WHY IT MATTERS: most bad research does not fail at the observation; it fails in the bridge.

PROVENANCE

“origin, source”
— Merriam-Webster · source ↗
AT THE CROSSROADS: where evidence came from, who handled it, and how it reached the researcher.
WHY IT MATTERS: a dramatic artifact with unknown provenance is weaker than a boring document with a clean chain.

CORROBORATION

“a strengthening or confirming”
— Merriam-Webster · source ↗
AT THE CROSSROADS: genuinely independent support — not several sources inheriting the same original assertion.
WHY IT MATTERS: source independence matters as much as source count.

TRUTHER COACH™ OPERATING TERMS

CROSSROADS METER

How much of the working hypothesis survives contact with evidence, competing models, and internal coherence tests.

NARRATIVE DISTANCE

How many inferential steps separate the irreducible ground from the conclusion.

RESOLUTION DEBT

Unresolved explanatory obligations accumulated by a narrative even after large amounts of information have been collected.

UNCERTAINTY ESCROW

Unresolved propositions are quarantined. They may generate questions but cannot be spent downstream as established facts.

WEAK SIGNAL SANDBOX

A holding area for symbolism, coincidences, timing, number patterns and strange correspondences that have not earned evidentiary status.

MODEL DRIFT

When a theory quietly changes its own rules or ontology in response to pressure instead of being honestly revised or branched.

NARRATIVE IMMUNITY

The social, professional, political or institutional cost of questioning a claim. High immunity may reduce scrutiny; it does not establish falsity.

NO BORROWED CERTAINTY

An unresolved proposition cannot be used as settled support for another proposition.

DISCLOSURE DYNAMICS

A lens for deliberate revelation, accidental leakage, partial disclosure, declassification, normalization, archival recovery and apparent hiding in plain sight.

SOURCE DNA

The genealogy of a claim: commentary → reporting → prior reporting → witness, document, image, dataset or other original source.

GROUND CONTACT

How much of the model rests on facts or observations that survive when interpretations and conclusions are stripped away.

SPECULATION LOAD

The cost imposed by unsupported bridges, rescue mechanisms, model drift, and certainty that outruns evidence.

PATTERN RECOGNITION LAYER

Recognizes the structure of a research claim and surfaces adjacent frameworks even when the researcher never names them explicitly.

INSTITUTIONAL SWAY AUDIT

Maps funding, permits, publication, prestige, affiliation and career incentives that may shape a field without assuming coordinated fraud.

ACCESS DEPENDENCY

Measures how much a claim depends on objects, archives, sites or datasets whose direct inspection is controlled by a limited group.

CONSENSUS SUPPLY CHAIN

Traces apparent expert agreement back to genuinely independent primary observations and collapses repeated citation ancestry.

KNOWLEDGE EXTINCTION

A crossroads for lost knowledge: deliberate suppression, disaster, secrecy, oral loss, language loss, obsolescence, restoration, or simple failure to transmit.

RECONSTRUCTION TRANSPARENCY

Separates original material from casts, composites, restoration, inferred missing portions and public-facing reconstruction.

THE SIMPLE RULE

QUESTION EVERYTHING. PROMOTE CAREFULLY.Consensus is metadata, not evidence. Non-consensus is metadata, not evidence. A guardrail is not evidence. Suspicion is not evidence. Every model pays the toll.
